Bethesda E3 2016 Recap

Welcome to the 2016 Bethesda E3 recap! Late Night Gamers RECAP WOOO! Alrighty, now to get down to business…

Even though the conference started almost twenty minutes late, Adam Kessler and Morgan Webb announced that on Nov. 11th Dishonored 2 available on PS4, XB1, and PC. Adam and Morgan make awkward conversation about rats and make noises….

With the conference beginning, Bethesda begins with a trailer for a new Quake game, Quake Champions. The trailer featured men, women, and monsters in space like battle armor jumping around a church battling. Tim Willits comes on stage to discuss the return of this series 20 years after its initial release. QC is an arena style FPS game for the PC that is designed for players of varying playing levels. The game will run at 120 hertz with flowing frame rates. Bethesda will be aiding in the expansion of competitive gaming with Quake through Quakecon.

Pete Hines now takes the stage with his face. He reviews last year’s E3 ESO, Fallout Shelter/4, and Doom

ESO Legends Strategy Card Game has a story bound with the game play. The trailer is comic like and then we experience technical difficulties in the middle of their conference. When it returns a map of Tamriel is aflame. The game looks similar to that of Magic the Gathering but with the quest to discover more about the Elder Scrolls. Will be available on iPhone, iPad, androids, and tablets TBD.

Bethesda discusses the Contraptions Workshop, Vault-Tec Workshop, and Nuka World Amusement Park for fallout 4. A fallout shelter update announces new enemies, quests, and the opportunity to explore new areas, shelter will be released on PC July 2016. They also announce working on the Skyrim Remastered for PS4 and Xbox One, mods will be available. In stores, October 26th, 2016

Raphael Colantonio, of Arkane Studios, takes the stage in discussing Dishonored and the development of immersive first person games. He announces a new game Prey. The trailer starts out with a groundhog day-esque feel and then you wake in a hospital of some sorts. You awake on a space station in 2032 and are a part of an experiment…the space station becomes swarmed by evil. And we all know that aliens are only terrifying.

Doom DLC is announced along with maps, weapons, and new game modes.

Matt Firor comes on stage to discuss the Elder Scrolls Online. They play a Leeroy Jenkins looking video to review the past year of play since its initial release on console. On June 23, ESO expands internationally and will be available in Japan. The Dark Brotherhood DLC will be released this Tuesday on PS4 and Xbox One They announce One Tamriel which lifts all restrictions and the world and who you play with is now free for you to do, will come this Fall.

Bethesda VR will be available to play in their booth, Doom and Fallout 4 will be playable with the headset. Fallout 4 will be released in 2017 on HTC Vive.

Dishonored 2 is discussed by Harvey Smith. A supernatural assassin came is now getting its sequel and a game play demo begins. In a room with a smoking man and a woman at a typewriter…the sky is crisp and blue at the Empire of the Isles. Welcome to Karnaca, Jewel of the South. You have the option of playing as Emily, the Empress, or her protector Corvo.  The void engine is in use to create a unique lighting in the game which adds more life to the environment. Arkane Studies is giving the players layers of story within the game. Will release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC November 11th 2016. Full descriptive article to follow later.

Though Elder Scrolls VI was not announced during this conference, there is hope during one of the later conferences as a release title. It looks like a big year of expansions on games that are already in play with a few new titles (sequels and such) for Bethesda.
