tf2Welcome to the gorgeous world of The Flame in the Flood!

The gameplay is simple, you walk around and collect materials and then craft things to survive. I first started the game on a raft and floated throughout the river going to various locations. This title definitely reminds me of the 2013 hit, Don’t Starve. Along your journey, you can upgrade your boat, fight enemies, and more.

Something that really pushed my buttons with The Flame in the Flood was how hard the game actually is. For example, once you get passed the 2 major sections out of the game (which there’s 10 total), you start getting into a tough time. Enemies start appearing, your boat is probably at this point is probably damaged, and you’re hungry. So the real challenge starts.

Oh and did mention that you can’t go back up the river, yeah, that is really annoying sometimes when you need to get something. As for the river itself, there’s a light stream which brings you along slowly then there’s rushing water which makes you go so fast that it’s easy to crash.

Graphically this game is beyond gorgeous. The art style just looks so perfect and everything is so crisp and clean. One little thing I’ve noticed though is framerate, the game has slight stutters throughout the entire journey but really it’s nothing major. Also, shadow quality can be improved, but I’m not complaining.

As for the soundtrack, this one is so beautiful to the point where I went out of my way and added this lovely soundtrack to my Apple Music library. If we never get a sequel, I’ll be pissed because we won’t get another record.

Trophy Time: The Flame in the Flood: Complete Edition has 37 trophies. 1 Platinum, 2 Gold, 18 Silver, and 16 Bronze. All of them are relatively hard compared to most games that I’ve played.

PlayStation Exclusives: Developer Commentary, PSN Avatars, & A Dynamic Theme (which you can view here)

The Flame in the Flood is one of the best games I think I’ve played this generation. This is 100% a must have and I pray for a sequel!
