Firewatch Review

If you’re new to my reviews you should know that i do non spoiler reviews (Story wise) i do this so you may go into my reviews knowing you may safely read it without the worry of reading a spoiler. Alright, now that i got that out of the way lets get to the review!

You play as Henry, he has left his messed up life to work as a fire lookout in the Wyoming Wilderness. Through out the game you build up a relationship with your supervisor, a women named Delilah. She can be funny, get mad, & sad, but most of the time sarcastic… She likes to be sarcastic a lot! You can call her up on your walkie if you meet something that catches your eye, or if you have something to report. At other times she’ll engage you  with a conversation and it’s your choice to reply or blatantly ignore her. If you don’t answer she may or may not get angry… She’ll probably get angry so best to answer her! Throughout this journey of being a fire lookout you’ll go through an emotional roller coaster, no i’m not joking. There are funny moments, happy, sad and even suspenseful moments throughout the game. Two major tools in Firewatch is your compass and map, they’ll both help guide you to your destination so you don’t get lost. Although the world looks massive (which it is), i found that i never branched off in any direction t o explore. To my knowledge there is only one mission and that is your main story so i didn’t feel any need to run off and go explore, so although the world is open you embark on a linear path.Firewatch 1

Without going into detail i really enjoyed Firewatch, it does have its flaws, my major one is that i felt like the game ended too soon. It took me about 5 hours to beat maybe less, but what do you expect from a $19.99. But please don’t let that discourage you from buying this game, personally i really enjoyed the story and the atmosphere this game set! Even with only about 5 hours of gameplay it does a fantastic job on really connecting you with the other main protagonist (Delilah). Overall i have to say Firewatch is a great game with an awesome art style, and story! Although it feels slow paced  and the story is short i have to say i recommend this game if you enjoy a game with a detailed short story! I’m giving Firewatch a 7/10.
