Square Enix has announced that a new expansion pack for their highly successful MMO Final Fantasy XIV, will arrive early Summer 2017.
The expansion, titled Stormblood, was detailed by game director Naoki Yoshida at Final Fantasy XIV’s 2016 Fan Festival, and will take players on a journey to the region of Ala Mhigo in an attempt to free it from the control of the Garlean Empire.
According to Yoshida, the goal is to have a full “game’s worth of content”, including new primal enemies, end game raids, dungeons, and at least as many new zones as Heavensward, the game’s first expansion.
In addition, with the release of Stormblood the level cap will see an increase from 60 to 70, player inventories will be expanded, new jobs will be added and both the combat and skill systems will see heavy revisions. Yoshida also noted that skills that are either ineffective or not being used will be either changed or removed entirely.
