E3 2016 Recap: PlayStation Conference

PlayStation came out strong this year for their E3 conference starting right off with the God of War Reveal & 10 minutes of game play. The game looks absolutely stunning I’ll let the video speak for itself. The game is titled “God of War” and at the end “Kratos” says “prepare for a new beginning” so I am personally assuming this is some sort of reboot.

Next up we finally got to see what Bend Studio has been working on a Third Person “post apocalyptic shooter” named Days Gone.

The Last Guardian was next with a new short trailer & a release date of October 25th, 2016

Horzion: Zero Dawn was recently delayed to February 28th, 2017 but it got a new game play trailer at PlayStation’s Conference showing off its beautiful environments, combat, & RPG elements.

Detroit: Become Human got a new trailer show casing the numerous amount of ways you can change the story of the game by the choices you make.

Now this next brand new title was confusing at first as to what it was but when realized was a great surprise Resident Evil 7 has been announced with a January 24th, 2017 release date. Coming to all platforms but can be played in entirely exclusively in VR on PlayStation only. Also a Demo has been made available now for PS Plus users on PS4.

We then had a VR segment of back to back titles the first couple being Sony World Wide studio games &/or PS Exclusive games.

FAR POINT

Star Wars: Battlefront X-Wing VR Mission – October 2016

Batman Arkham VR – October

Final Fantasy XV Trailer & VR Experience

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare & Modern Warfare Remaster

We got the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare SP campaign game play in the middle of the VR Segment suggesting that CoD may support PSVR in some way when it releases in November. we also got a CoD: Modern Warfare Remaster trailer suggesting the same thing about Modern Warfare as Infinite Warfare supporting VR in some way.

Crash Bandicoot announcement

Next up we got the very much anticipated announcement that Crash Bandicoot 1,2 & 3 would be getting Remastered from the ground up ad returning to PlayStation along with a trailer for Crash’s introduction to the Skylanders Universe. The Remasters were not shown but have been said via PlayStation PR to be coming in 2017.

we got a new LEGO Star Wars” Force Awakens trailer game looks to be fun and tell some extra canon to the Star Wars universe.  A demo was released for the game & The Full game launches in 2 weeks on June 28th, 2016

Andrew house then came on stage to introduce Kojima onto the stage which he then gave us a teaser trailer for his new title named Death Stranding starring Norman Reedus

Insomniac Games shocked us all by being the developers behind the rumored PS4 Exclusive Spider Man game as everyone expected it to be Sucker Punch developing this game.

Closing out the conference we went back to Days Gone & got 6 minutes of game play. looks to be very exciting & tense.

I personally believe PlayStation’s Conference this year was fantastic going straight to games n no dev talk between just games games games. However one disappointing thing about this conference was a lot of the 1st party games did not have dates or years attached to them & only said “in development for PS4” at the end of their trailers. Now while it is somewhat worrying I suspected most we would see from Sony was gonna be at least 2017 titles and not 2016 so take it how you will regardless I’m pumped for the future of PlayStation.
