se2Welcome to the world of Space Overlords! This review covers the basics of the game and is 100% MY OPINION, please enjoy. 🙂

Space Overlords is a game about 4 brothers known as Overlords. They’ve been hidden by the evil Kesedihan for a LONG time while he destroys the universe around them. So, how do the Overlords stop it? Well, by destroying the Kesedihan’s things such as cities. Speaking of this, the games focus on destructibility, that’s cool and all, but it’s bad in this title because it feels VERY clunky and iterating to destroy basic things. You also feel very heavy at ALL times. The second level alone was ridiculously hard and didn’t feel like something you jump into after the first level and just made me mad and turn off the game. After jumping back in and beating the level, things seemed better. Overall, gameplay isn’t a strong suit.

While this game has a very mid-80s arcade feel, everything was a copy/paste scenario. While people back in the 80s didn’t care how basic a game was, or how repetitive its gameplay turned out to be, they lived in an era where the majority of games were so basic that they were forced to feel that way about a game. Unfortunately for the team at 12 Hit Combo, this is a different period in time and repetitive gameplay doesn’t really fly unless the mechanics are either so good or unique that we can look past the repetitiveness.

Graphically, even for a smaller title, this doesn’t look too hot. The game is made up of very basic shapes and is not very complex. It would not if they add HDR and smooth out those nasty edges, this could be a good looking title.

I thank the team at 12 Hit Combo for a key to review this title, in fact they were the first developers to give me a chance, but this title just wasn’t for me which was a shame since I was really looking forward to reviewing this. I wish them the best, but with the shortcomings of the game, it’s not something very good. se
